ABOUT ME

Assalamualaikum, my name is Iqbal Asyraaf Amir bin Mohd Zubair. I am student that study at UITM Pahang, Campus Jengka. I am from Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur. One of the important things that I doing this e-portfolio is to introduce UED 102 subject. LEARNING STYLE INVENTORY

#READY TO LEARN

make a moves from school to university or college is not an easy task for a certain students. Many things that students have to prepare and adapt before students are fully ready to go. Many student have to make a new friends at the new places or environment.

LEARNING STYLE AND CHARACTER OF SUCCESSFUL STUDENT

  1. Attend all classes. University or college is not same as school. If you keep skip your classes ,you may be will suspended from university or college. Do not think that school days and college days are the same.
  2. Become an active learner. You must participated to remembered and memorized for the long term memory. Take note an important things for that you will not miss.
  3. Participate in class. If you feel bit uncomfortable in class, just answer a few questions in each class. You must officially involved in learning process.
  4. Get to know your lecturers. Ask them about materials or your progress in the subject or courses. It will make you become more comfortable to ask a questions or help when needed.
  5. Form study group with friends. This is very essential for a students. We can share our information to our friends. We can improve our performance in our class.
  6. Stay up to date with your work. Do not do the last minutes works. This always happen to college or university students. Always update the works even due dates is still long to submit.
  7. Be receptive to change. If you do not get the information that you must get, change the ways you study. There are many ways to study such as study group. There needs to be a change in learning for success in exam.
  8. Work hard this semester. Each semester carry the pointer. You must work harder than anyone else to become successful students. You must arrange your times wisely so that you can do your works or assignment properly without procrastination.

1.GOAL SETTING

What is Goal Setting?

Selecting a target or objective you wish or want to achieve. Fair enough. There is a much more useful way to think about setting goals. Not to easily or hardly.

What is Goal Setting?

It is a direction that can make you become succesful student or person and make you more focused on what you want to achieve in the future.

CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS:

Specific

Being specific and well-defined is the foundation for any goal because if you don’t know where the end zone is, you don’t know how to score.

Measurable

You need to identifies the qualities of your goals. Dont make it so hard to get or make it so easily to get. Just create the goals that will make you strive to achieve it.

Attainable

set the goals unrealistic can make you down and stress. It also have a negative effect than positive. Your goals must not be that is impossible to be real. Don’t set a unattainable goals which is that can blame them self if fail. Set the goals that difficult and challenging but not impossible.

REWARDING

The feeling that you fell can make you become more motivate to face teh challenges and obstacles and make you become strong mentally. The rewards could be any types of things or food that similarly to your goals.

TIME-BOUND

The last thing of SMART is that must be time-bound. It must be not to short or long, as it will make a goal unattainable. Times is a prices that you will pays to get the goals and you must give it time that the goal is worth. Set the due dates for a works will avoid you from procrastination.

LONG- TERM AND SHORT-TERM GOALS:

Long term goals is a goal that you set at the end of the years for yourself for three or four years from now.

Short term goals is a goals that we set for an hour from now, end of the day or week or semester.

5 STEP APPROACH TO SETTING GOALS

  1. What you want to accomplish:
  • want to get 3.3 pointer and above in every semester.
  • can communicate fluently in english with others people.
  • become successful in sports and science.

2. Any obstacles:

  • sleeping in the class.
  • bad in speaking English.
  • shame when present in front of the class.
  • shame with lecturer

3. Any resources available:

  • remind to have a good sleep.
  • practice to have a good heart.
  • keep myself strong.

4. Review & revise tentative goal statement:

  • want to become the successful student in UITM.
  • get 3.3 pointer and above in every semester.
  • become successful in sport study.

5. Polished your goal statement:

  • get 3.4 pointer and above in every semester.
  • become athlete in the future.
  • become students that take care of health wisely.

Managing times wisely and effectively is essential for a university or college students. It is also important key to fulfilling university or college career.

In UITM Jengka, Pahang, they have satisfactory learning equipment. In addition, they also have a place to find information about academic resources that can be used by students, Al-Bukhari 1 is one of the academic resources that can be used by students.

LIBRARY

The library is the essential place in an university. The library is an important infrastructure for students. It makes it easier for students to find information related to the subject studied.

Al-Bukhari 1 & Al-Bukhari 2 are there two library that have at UITM Jengka, Pahang. Al-Bukhari 1 is the places that can borrow and return book and Al-Bukhari 2 is the places that have a journal, online database and thesis. Al-Bukhari 1 is the new building while Al-Bukhari 2 is the old building.

Concentration & Reading System

WHAT IS MEMORY:

Memory is the retention of information in time to time or the mind keep and saves the information like computer hardware or software.

WHAT IS BRAIN:
Brain is the organ that can saves memory.

Left side of brain:

  • number skills
  • reasoning
  • science and math

Right side of brain:

  • creativity
  • art awareness
  • insight
  • 3D forms
  • intuition

HOW WE EASILY FORGET SOME INFORMATION:

  • did not pay attention in class
  • last minutes study
  • do not understand the information
  • cramming

HOW TO IMPROVE MEMORY STRATEGIES:

  • Spaced practice(recommended)

spaced practice allowed our memory to collecting, remember and saves our information that we have read or what we gain in the class and it also saves in the long-term memory.

  • Break reading material down

not for cramming, we must reads or learns 2 chapter per day and not all chapters before the day of the exam or before entering hall to take a exam.

  • Rehearsal

repeat the information many times in order to remember the information.

  • Elaboration strategies

Make a acronyms. For example, AIDS is acronym for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Make a associations.

STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING CONCENTRATION

Concentration is a your focusing attention on what you are doing.

Causes of poor concentration:

  • lack attention
  • lack interest
  • lack motivation
  • distraction from others
  • uncomfortable environment

STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING CONCENTRATION

  • Use motivational and organizational strategies- create a positive vibe or attitude toward your work
  • Create a positive learning environment- find a better places to study and to do a revision
  • Deal with internal distractions- deal with your personal problems
  • Monitor your concentration

SQ3R: SURVEY-QUESTION-READ-RECITE-REVIEW

Reading academic materials is very different from general reading like newspaper or etc. For reading academic must have a strategies to remember the key of the topic or point of topic. This strategy includes the following five steps (Robinson, 1946 in Adolescence Literacy):

  • survey

Takes a minutes to understand what will you study to get a view or pictures.

  • question

Always create one question or few of question while you read or study, so with the questions you mind or brain will find the answers for your questions.

  • read

Read all the paragraphs that have given, it will help you to gain information and it will help to find the answers.

  • recite

make a summary for what you have read or study.

make a simple note.

recall what your have read or study.

  • review

Look back at your note that you have done.

Most important things is you must do revision.

5.Taking Lecture Notes

Why must take notes :

  • helps you to concentrate
  • helps you to remember what you have learns

How to takes notes :

  • ready a A4 paper or a piece of paper
  • ready a multi-colored pens to make notes more interesting to read
  • know or identify the main point of the topic
  • make a simple but solid notes
  • use various symbols
  • use an outline to shows the various points (main points, support idea, examples and etc)
  • Just use simple language to make your understand

Before start class:

  • read the notes
  • make dates for you notes
